 A year on from the Levy, what are the implications for apprenticeship recruitment?

A couple of weeks ago I asked my LinkedIn connections to fill in a short survey about apprenticeships – just a snapshot survey to commemorate my one year anniversary in the sector, and to help me take a step back and see the wood for the trees again. There has been so much change in Apprenticeships in the last year, particularly the potential impact of Brexit on future talent, the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy, not to mention the election and (another!) change of government minister overseeing its roll out. 

April 2017 saw the launch of the Apprenticeship Levy and 4 months on, we know there is a lot of information to digest on the subject. Using our experience, we wanted to simplify the vast amount of information and answer some of the most frequently asked questions.

Despite a challenging economic climate, the UK’s diverse digital industry has thrived over the past five years. According to a recent report by Tech City UK, digital industries contributed £87bn to the UK economy in 2015 and the sector now employs more than 1.46 million people- approximately 330,000 in London alone. Digital technological companies are thus proving pivotal to the UK economy.
