Social Enterprise raising funds for youth charity Tall Ships

Posted by TheTalentPeople Team on Oct 1, 2019 1:28:50 PM

TheTalentPeople CEO David Allison took a different approach to his morning commute as he completed a 15-kilometre paddleboard from Chichester to Havant, in aid of Tall Ships Youth Trust.

David set off from Chichester shortly before 6am on Wednesday, September 18. Paddle boarding out of Chichester, he paddled past Birdham and Itchenor, then between Thorney Island and Hayling Island before arriving at Bridge Lake near TheTalentPeople’s head office at Langstone Technology Park three hours later. So far, David has raised £1,061.36 for Tall Ships Youth Trust, which is the UK’s oldest and largest sail training charity.

David Allison  (CEO, TheTalentPeople) was thrilled to be able to support and raise money for such a great charity like the Tall Ships Trust.

He says: ‘I am thrilled to be able to support and raise money for such a great charity like the Tall Ships Trust. ‘It was amazing to set off from the marina at first light, and apart from one incident where I almost fell off my paddleboard around Langstone Harbour, the journey was superb.’ David adds: ‘I’m planning do it all over again next year, and I’ll even try to shave half an hour off my time, or take the long route around Hayling!’

TheTalentPeople, a social enterprise that helps organisations large and small engage with and recruit young people, has chosen Tall Ships Youth Trust as their Charity of the Year for 2019/2020. David’s sponsored paddle board journey is the latest in a series of fundraisers to support Tall Ships’ Making Waves appeal, which sees the charity raising money to offer bursaries to as many young people as possible. David says: ‘As a Social Enterprise supporting young people as they make the move from education to work, the Making Waves appeal is a great cause which marries well with our aspiration to help the young people across the UK meet their full potential.’
