GMFJ - Matchmaker?

Posted by GMFJ_Team on Mar 2, 2015 4:44:47 AM

What is a match: person or thing exactly like, equal to or in harmony with another*

Nowadays people can be matched online using dating sites; or matched to potential opponents on video games. And now, GetMyFirstJob matches your company with suitable candidates!

You will use GetMyFirstJob to match your company to Apprenticeship positions. You can do this by looking at certain criteria, including:

  1. Geography - is their home post code a suitable distance from your company? It isn't a good match if they are hundreds of miles away from your job on offer.
  2. Grades - does the candidate have the right grades to fit the training criteria? Some apprenticeships need candidates to have specific GCSE or A level qualifications in order to start the training.  This information can also be useful to training providers and colleges to help them understand if you will need any extra support throughout the apprenticeship.
  3. Interest - has the candidate selected your career area as a high interest? Only selecting 1 or 2 high interests indicate they have really thought about their dream career.

Following this, you will be screened further to ensure you are compatible with the apprenticeship. Some of these filters include:

  • Distance to the job - to make sure it is easy for the apprentice to get to you. If they have to get 3 buses and a boat to this position, you will be less likely to be matched to it. We have found employers prefer local candidates as this ensures they will be punctual and consistent.
  • Last active date - So you can see that candidates are eager and actively seeking employment. You can see when candidates last logged onto GetMyFirstJob, so if a candidate frequently access GetMyFirstJob you could be seen as a good match as you are keen.
  • Application - has the candidate already applied for this position? If they have already applied, they are showing initiative and a real interest in the apprenticeship you have to offer.

The GetMyFirstJob process makes finding your apprentice a lot easier!
