Apprenticeships - A review of last year and leaping into 2018.

Posted by TalentPortal Team on Feb 2, 2018 12:18:36 PM

The 31st marks end of the first month in 2018, and our CEO reflects back on the year ahead and how last year was probably the most tumultuous year in the world of Apprenticeships and Further Education.

2017 saw the introduction of the Levy, Standards, and new Institute for Apprenticeships, presenting challenges for all of us – in addition to the uncertainty around tendering and contracting. In amongst the challenges were some great achievements too, not just for companies that understood and got behind the Levy, but also the many young people who were able to explore their options and begin an Apprenticeship. I guess we would all have liked the numbers to be bigger, but with any luck it’s set the foundation for 2018.

Despite all this, in 2017 we passed a number of major milestones. Over 370,000 young people have now registered to explore their options and search for jobs. In fact, we’ve now helped manage over 1,000,000 applications and CV searches across 100,000 job roles.

So, 2018 is shaping up to be a good year. Whilst there are still challenges with the implementation of the Levy and associated standards, the number of organisations using apprenticeships to provide their talent for the future is on the up. Our partnerships with the Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme as well as the National Citizen Service and Prince’s Trust are helping to get the word out to an even more diverse group of candidates.

This year is about helping our customers become even more effective at operating outstanding recruitment practices. Not only through our ever extending work with schools, careers advisers, youth and education charities, but also through enhancements to our platform and some great new selection tools that make the most of careers assessments and cultural fit. Contact us to find out more!

As ever, the team is here to help – not only to get more out of the recruitment platform but also to provide insight into the ever changing world of recruitment. Our data set of over 370,000 fully profiled candidates provides us with truly unique insight. In 2018, we’d love to use it to help you.
