Your company may be primarily in the leisure industry. But what exactly does a Leisure Apprenticeship entail? Some leisure vacancies are based in a gym, some in parks and some even at football clubs…. so here are some ideas of the apprentices you could employ.

Instructor: Not only will an apprentice be gaining NVQ in Leisure, they may well be doing this while leading a gym session - talk about multi-tasking! As well as instructing groups of customers whilst leading the sessions, they will also be helping clients outside of the classes so good customer service skills are needed along with an interest in this field.

Leisure Operations / Attendant: As an operations Apprentice working towards a leisure NVQ, your apprentice will be maintaining the facilities of your workplace. If you're based in a gym, your apprentice could be involved in ensuring that the equipment is working correctly and checking swimming pool safety. If you're based at a park, your apprentice could become a Grounds person, maintaining the general area. Whatever the role and wherever your place of work, your apprentice will gain a good understanding of the workings of a leisure facility.

Sports Coach: These positions work within schools teaching different sports to students. To be successful in this role, they must have a real passion for sports as well as good communication skills and good rapport with people. At the end of their Apprenticeship they will have gained an NVQ in Leisure and gained some great experience.
