GetMyFirstJob 2017 Success – New Records, Happy Clients

Written by TalentPortal Team | Jan 30, 2018 5:17:03 PM

Although 2017 saw a national dip in Apprenticeship starts, GetMyFirstJob is continuing to support young people into apprenticeships with the help of its great employers & training providers.

FE Week reported in November 2017 monthly starts were 17% lower than they need to be in order to meet the Government’s 3 million target by 2020. This is in stark contrast to the applications starts that GetMyFirstJob is seeing from its training providers and employers that use GetMyFirstJob’s TalentPortal to recruit the next generation of apprenticeships.

With more than 200,000 vacancy applications on GetMyFirstJob throughout 2017, training providers and employers are seeing even better candidates, filling even more roles. The Centre for Economics and Business Research has also reported that in some sectors, an Apprentice can deliver productivity gains of more than £10,000 a year (2015), so it is no wonder that the training providers success is steadily rising.

GetMyFirstJob believes one of the key reasons for their continued success is the range of great training providers and employers it works with. With more than 100 different frameworks advertised, young people have the choice of thousands of vacancies at any one time to suit their needs.

James Bridgman, Marketing Director at GetMyFirstJob explains “It is incredibly impressive that despite a drop in national vacancies in 2017 after the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy in April, Providers and Employers using our TalentPortal platform filled over 30,000 vacancies, a new record for us.”

Some of the companies GetMyFirstJob work with that have seen great success in 2017 include Bosch, Havering College, Learning Skills Partnership, Truro & Penwith College and WhiteHat Training.

Bosch

During 2017, Bosch recruited 210 apprentices onto their apprenticeship programme, breaking records with the highest number of female apprentices recruited than ever before. 70% of the successful apprentices that Bosch placed using TalentPortal and GetMyFirstJob were found by proactively searching for young job seekers within specific geographic areas surrounding their apprenticeships.

I think we can attribute our high number of starts we achieved to hard work across all of our teams, and to the support of GetMyFirstJob!” Samantha Gee, an Apprenticeship Recruitment Advisor at Bosch

Learning Skills Partnership

Learning Skills Partnership offer apprenticeships with long term sustainable careers for their learners, which is one of the key reasons for their success. Their success is shown in them recruiting 5% more apprentices than they had initially forecasted along with achieving their highest number of apprenticeship starts in September with 75 apprentices placed in new roles. Helen Rudge, Recruitment Manager at Learning Skills Partnership explains the key reasons for their success in 2017 "at the heart of our success is great client relationships but 2017 saw the Apprenticeship Levy come into play and LSP ensured we were fully informed and prepared for levy which has allowed us to support our clients, both old and new in implementing and managing that change".

 WhiteHat

WhiteHat engaged with nearly 20,000 people in 2017. Through combining social media campaigns and relationships with some amazing companies like Warner Bros, Google and Burberry, WhiteHat have truly revolutionised the way that they attract people to their apprenticeship vacancies in 2017. When asked to summarise WhiteHat’s apprenticeship recruitment in 2017, Euan Blair, Founder and CEO say’s:

“We’ve been able to provide a diverse group of school leavers with access to great opportunities and help them thrive in a new environment”.

GetMyFirstJob is proud to be part of all of these achievements and will continue to show its support to the training providers and employers it works with throughout 2018.
